Many area churches held rally days to kick off the new Sunday school year, but one went above and beyond.

Members of the Third Presbyterian Church of Rockford gathered in Brown Park to release balloons into the air to mark the first day of school. The balloon lift-off symbolizes the church's sending of love to the community and world with the message of Jesus Christ attached to each string.
