Winter Storm Makes Hampering New England Commute

BOSTON (AP) -- Commuters across New England are facing a tough drive, and schools are closed or delaying opening as a winter storm that dumped more than a foot of snow in some areas slowly begins exiting the region.

The National Weather Service reported Friday that central Massachusetts and areas southwest of Boston are getting the most snow in the state, and will get more before the storm tapers off after noon.

Flooding at the morning high tide closed some coastal roads north and south of Boston.

Schools across Connecticut are closed for a second day, and numerous accidents were making the morning commute difficult.

The late-winter storm buried parts of the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic before sweeping into New England.
