Rock County Issues Statement Concerning Tornado Warning Error

ROCK COUNTY (WIFR) -- The Rock County Sheriff's Department issued the following statement concerning the earlier Tornado Warning that was issued in error.

"At 10:30 am this morning, the National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning in Rock County and several surrounding counties. This warning was issued inadvertently during a test of the Wireless Emergency Alert System. This alert was only a test of the system and was not intended for release via NOAA weather radios and cellular phones.

While we do not have a current threat of a tornado in the Rock County area, we are under a Winter Storm Warning until Tuesday at 6:00 pm. This winter storm could bring a possible ten inches of heavy snow accumulation. Please stay tuned for further details as the storm approaches.
