MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Authorities say a man died after blowing snow in Milwaukee as a winter storm dumped heavy snow on eastern Wisconsin.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office says the 71-year-old man collapsed shortly after blowing snow Wednesday. He was pronounced dead about 1 p.m.

His name was not immediately released, and the medical examiner's office said it had no further details.

Hundreds of vehicles were stranded or ended up in crashes as the storm made travel dangerous in eastern Wisconsin. More than 340 stranded vehicles and crashes were reported in Milwaukee, Kenosha, Ozaukee and Washington counties after heavy snowfall that started Tuesday and continued into Wednesday.

The storm dumped 14 inches in Sheboygan County. The Milwaukee, Kenosha, Racine and Sheboygan school districts were among those canceling classes.
