Posted: 11:10 AM Dec 20, 2012

JO DAVIESS COUNTY (WIFR) -- The Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with the JoDaviess County Highway Department, is asking all drivers to be aware of the Blizzard Warning effective until midnight tonight.

The county is asking all drivers to stay off roads until the snow storm has passed. The snowplows are having difficulty keeping the roads clear. If you must remain on the roadways, please remember to use your headlights so oncoming traffic can see you. The Sheriff's Office will respond to Emergency Calls only and any Non-Emergency calls will be followed up on a time and date subsequent to the storm.

Due to the deteriorating weather conditions, the Menominee Township has removed their snow plows from the roads until the weather conditions improved.

Jo Daviess County Highway Departmen has pulled their snow plows off the roads at 4:30 p.m.

If you must travel, make sure you have ample fuel, a cell phone, and supplies for winter driving conditions. If you become stuck, there may be delays in receiving assistance.

The Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office, asks that you do NOT call your local law enforcement for current road conditions or advice on travel.
