Proud Players Thrilled That Hockey Is Back

Posted: 7:57 PM Jan 6, 2013

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- NHL players are thrilled hockey is back now that the league and the players' association agreed on a tentative pact to end a 113-day lockout.

Flyers All-Star Claude Giroux posted on Twitter that Sunday was a beautiful day for hockey. Other players around the league shared the same sentiment.

The Nashville Predators encouraged fans to wear team colors on Monday in a show of solidarity. Players and teams thanked fans for their patience and support.

Coyotes captain Shane Doan says the players got the best deal it could thanks to union executive director Donald Fehr.

The Flyers, Bruins and the Sidney Crosby-led Penguins were among the teams that worked out on their own, some paying for ice time at their team's own practice rinks during the stoppage.
