Pep Rally for Orange Bowl Bound NIU Football Team

Posted: 8:32 PM Dec 5, 2012

DEKALB (WIFR) -- The week long Orange Bowl celebration continued Wednesday in DeKalb with Northern Illinois fans getting a chance to celebrate with the football team.

The opportunity came during a pep rally Wednesday night at the NIU convocation center. At half-time of the men's basketball game the pigskin took center stage. The twelve and one football team brought their MAC championship game hardware to the hardwood to thank their fans. Quarterback Jordan Lynch and his teammates told the crowd, they're ready for Miami and are grateful for the loyal NIU community.

"The fans, the students, everyone involved in this gave us great support throughout the whole year,” said junior quarterback Jordan Lynch. “Even when we fell short against Iowa, there were always people in classes showing us the utmost respect.”

“It’s good to see how much they support us, especially as a senior here,” says defensive end Sean Progar. “We’ve been through a lot of ups and downs and to see their support helps us out.”

The Huskies face Florida State in the Orange Bowl on January 1st.
