UPDATE: ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- After 18 hours of deliberation, Jesse Herrera's jury could not reach a unanimous decision, forcing judge John Truitt to declare a mistrial. You may recall Herrera is accused of killing Kerry Davis back in 2009. Prosecutors will likely try again.

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford Police have released the name of suspect in the murder of a 34 year old Rockford man. Police have identified 21 year old Jesse J. Herrera as a suspect in the shooting of Kerry Davis.

Davis was shot and then dumped from a vehicle about 3:30 yesterday in an alley near the 800 block of King in Rockford. Investigators say Davis was transported to Rockford Memorial Hospital, where he later died. An autopsy on Davis is scheduled for today.

Herrera is in the Winnebago County Jail on $8,000 bod for two warrents and one million dollars bond for First Degree Murder.
