WASHINGTON D.C. (WIFR) -- A laid-off Sensata worker will get to watch the President’s address in person, thanks to an invitation from Congresswoman Cheri Bustos.

Dot Turner was one of 170 employees whose job was shipped overseas. We met her quite a few times at the local protests a few months ago. She worked at the Freeport plant for 43 years before it was shut down at the end of the year. We had the chance to catch up with her before she left for Washington this morning. She tells us she’s proud to be a part of the 17th District.

“We have elected a congresswoman who’s stayed true to what she campaigned on. She has a passion and a big concern for the people who are losing jobs,” Turner said.
