UPDATE: Police Searching For Driver of Rollover Crash in Rockford

UPDATE: Police are still looking for the driver of the car involved in the accident.

Originally when police arrived on scene the driver fled the scene on foot.

UPDATE: Police say a passenger of the wrecked car has been apprehended after a brief search. A witness says the man stole her car after she stopped to help.

The witness had stopped on scene to check on the victims, shortly after, one of the men involved in the wreck jumped into the unattended car and took off.

The man and stolen car were later found and he was sent to the hospital and the car returned to the witness.

The other victims have been released from the hospital with minor injuries.

When police arrived on scene they could see a small amount of fire in the engine compartment. The flame was put out immediately.





ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Three people were rushed to local hospitals Tuesday night after a rollover crash on Rockford's south side.

It happened around 10:45 p.m. at 1023 Seminary Street. Rockford police say it's a one car accident. Three victims are currently being treated at area hospitals and their conditions are unknown.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
