UPDATE: Charges Filed in Fatal Crash on Winnebago Street

2 Dead, 1 Hurt in Car Crash
ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Charges have been filed in this weekend's deadly crash on Winnebago Street.
Police say Antavia S. McGee, 21, was driving a car early Saturday morning when it struck a tree. Her two passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. She's been charged with Reckless Homicide and Aggravated DUI. ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The autopsies of the two women killed in Saturday morning's car crash have been completed.
Winnebago County Coroner Sue Fidducia says 20-year-old Shakiyla Ellis died of blunt trauma to the head and Desiree Mannery, 23, died as a result of blunt trauma to the head and chest. Both of the women's injuries were due to the crash.
Toxicology results will be available in three weeks.
ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The two women killed in a Rockford car crash Saturday morning have been identified as 20-year-old Shakiyla Ellis of Rockford and 23-year-old Desiree Mannery of Rockford. Their autopsies are scheduled for Monday.
The surviving driver has been identified as Antavia McGee. We're told she is in fair condition and is improving.
UPDATE: The Rockford Fire Department has confirmed two people were killed in a car crash at Kent and Winnebago Streets.
The fire department says it was a single car accident, where the vehicle hit a tree. The driver of the mid-size car survived the crash. She had to be cut out of the wreckage by firefighters. She was taken to Rockford Memorial Hospital for unknown injuries.
The two killed were a front seat adult passenger and a rear seat adult passenger. Right now their names are not being released.
The Rockford Police Department is investigating the crash. ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Rockford police are on the scene of a serious car crash.
It happened just before 1:45 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Kent and Winnebago Streets, that’s near the Tinker Swiss Cottage and Tinker Park. Police are asking us to avoid the area.
Right now details are limited and police say the investigation is ongoing. We will have more information when it becomes available.
