Machesney Park Village Trustees Want Utilities Tax Hike

Posted: 8:59 PM Dec 19, 2012

MACHESNEY PARK (WIFR) -- The one-percent sales tax increase for road improvements just isn't cutting it in Machesney Park. Village trustees say they need more money.

So they want to raise the utilities tax by five-percent. We're told that would come to about $8 a month. Village President Tom Strickland is adamantly against it. But most of the board feels it's worth it. Especially since homeowners are saving money with electric aggregation. They'll make a final decision at the end of January.
