Black Friday Fight at CherryVale Mall

UPDATE (WIFR) -- On December 13th, 2012, Damien Galvanoni plead not guilty during his arraignment hearing. A status hearing has been scheduled for January 3, 2013.

Perez's case was dismissed on November 29th.

CHERRY VALLEY (WIFR) -- Around 4:30 the morning of November 23, 2012, officers of the Cherry Valley Police Department responded to the food court of the CherryVale Mall due to a fight involving several individuals.

Responding officers broke up the altercation and two men were arrested at the scene.

19-year-olds, Damien Galvanoni of Machesney Park and Jerardo Perez of Rockford, were charged with Aggravated Battery and Mob Action. Galvanoni was also charged with Resisting a Police Officer.

Two people were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A Cherry Valley Police Officer also sustained minor injuries in the scuffle. The incident is still under investigation and further charges may be forthcoming.
