Chicago Man Imprisoned for 1999 McHenry County DUI Deaths Arrested Again

Posted: 3:37 AM Feb 26, 2013

MCHENRY COUNTY (AP) -- A suburban Chicago man who served a 14-year prison sentence for causing a drunken-driving crash that killed a mother and her three children is facing another DUI charge.

Walter Depner was arrested late Sunday after McHenry County sheriff's police received a call about a car running off the road near Lakemoor. Another caller later reported a man drove into his driveway and walked uninvited into his home.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports police later identified the man as Depner. Authorities say Depner was charged with DUI and driving on a revoked license. It wasn't immediately known if Depner has a lawyer.

Depner was convicted of aggravated DUI and reckless homicide in the Aug. 21, 1999 collision that killed 34-year-old Eva Burleson, 13-year-old Daniel, 11-year-old Tiffany, and 7-year-old Dallis.
