Freeport Schools Superintendent Considering Eliminating Grade Levels

FREEPORT (WIFR) - Freeport schools superintendent is considering eliminating grade levels.

It's a concept Dr. Roberta Selleck introduced at her previous superintendent job in Colorado. She thinks students learn better if they advance based on their progress, not age.

She invited the public to learn more about the idea during an open mic night. A lot of parents asked about when it would start and how much it would cost.

Selleck says she does not plan to go over the district's $60 million budget. She's been in office six months.
