Huge Gift for U of I College of Medicine

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- It’s the largest gift Rockford’s University of Illinois College of Medicine has ever received and they plan on putting that donation to good use.

The C.W.B. Foundation has given the college $3 million, which will be used to tear down an old lab area and turn it into a new, state of the art, research center which will focus on cell generation.

The hope is that this center could eventually become a breeding ground for training and could lead to cures and new treatments for those with spinal cord injuries and other disabilities.

It's a transformative moment. It means that we're going somewhere. And I think particularly for those individuals with disabilities, this could be a place where solutions are found,” said University of Illinois President Bob Easter.
