Dist. 205 Partners with the Rockford Metropolitan Agency for Planning
ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The Rockford Public School District is teaming up with a local planning agency to help improve schools and make them safer.
The school board approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Rockford Metropolitan Agency for Planning. RMAP will help coordinate district initiatives with the city and county, especially when it comes to building upgrades and other infrastructure. The district has been looking at adding sidewalks and green space near schools. Many times kids are forced to walk in the street. The agreement will cost $40,000 for one year.
Also Tuesday night the school board approved high school courses for the new career academies, but not unanimously. Lisa Jackson said parents didn't have enough input in the new courses.
