Heartland Church Kicks Off Food Drive
Posted: 5:43 PM Nov 10, 2012

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Right now more food pantries are in desperate need of assistance and a local church is reaching out to help those in need.

Heartland Church just kicked off a new campaign they're calling Project Hope: Bag Hunger. The church is collecting food for the Belvidere-Boone county and Capron food pantries. Both groups have had a hard time stocking their shelves lately.

“The next meal is a struggle and while a lot of us are looking at what restaurant we are going to go to next, others wonder where the next meal will come from," says Doug Thiesen, Lead Pastor at Heartland Church.

You can drop off canned goods at the church until November 18th. The group hopes to fill 20 large boxes with donations.
