MACHESNEY PARK (WIFR) -- A local high school student is chosen to attend the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Conference. But Abraham Herrera has to find the money to get there first.

The local Harlem student hopes to attend the 5 day conference in Washington D.C., a trip that will cost more than $3,000. The16 year old has been raising the money on his own, through church and selling chocolate candy bars. He says seeing the inauguration would be the ultimate reward.

“This opportunity has really been a great honor for me and my family, I know that for sure. I actually want to get into politics someday so this is really a great advantage for me, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity," said Herrera.

The local student has raised a little more than $1,000. The conference includes seminars from political experts and from politicians like Condoleezza Rice.
