Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has Died

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has lost a two-year bout with cancer. Venezuelans learned on a national broadcast that Chavez died today. Chavez was a fiery socialist popular among the poor for using Venezuela's oil fortune for pay for new public housing, free health clinics and education programs. He campaigned against the U.S. and promoted a leftist revival across Latin America. Chavez was 58.
