Fire Consumes House, Displaces Family

ROCK COUNTY (WIFR) -- On February 15, 2013, at 10:16 pm, deputies from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office along with members of the Milton Fire Department were dispatched to 11607 N. Highway 26 in Milton Township for a residential fire.

Deputies began arriving at 10:26 pm and reported that there was heavy smoke and flames visible. Milton Fire units began arriving shortly after deputies and immediately requested assistance from several other fire agencies. Seven fire agencies responded to assist with this incident.

Deputies were able to verify that all occupants of the residence were able to escape the residence, but several animals were still inside the residence. One member of the family was treated for minor smoke inhalation, but was released from the scene.

The preliminary investigation shows that the fire appears to have originated in the area of an outdoor heater being used for pets, but remains under investigation. The residence is a total loss but an estimated dollar amount for the damage is unavailable at this time.
