Fundraiser for "Fatherless" Art Show

Fatherless, a collaborative group of five local artists, will exhibit at the “Pick Me Up” art fair in London, UK, from April 17-28, 2013. Fatherless will create one-of-a-kind hand-printed images specifically for the event, reflective of what they call “Rust Belt Power Pop esthetic.”

Along with their eclectic mix of graphics, Fatherless will create prints, t-shirts, broadsides and handbills during the show. Dave Menard, one of the members of Fatherless, stated that they hope to “engage visitors with our process, esthetic and energy,” while at the show.

The “Pick Me Up” art fair, hosted by Somerset House Trust, is the UK’s first contemporary graphic arts fair, an exhibition of international rising stars in the graphics arts world. Participants in the show are selected by a panel of industry experts from around the world.

Fatherless has started a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for travel costs and the shipment of supplies including several large silk screening frames. “We’re asking for help through Kickstarter because we are passionate about getting our artwork exposed on an international stage. For five local artists with regular day jobs and families, this is going to be a rewarding experience to say the least. Even the smallest contribution would help us show an international audience the kind of quality work that’s coming out of Rockford,” stated Greg Lang, another member of Fatherless.

Fatherless will also hold a fundraiser for the show in London. The fundraiser will take place on February 8, 2013, at Rockford Art Deli, 402 E. State St, Downtown Rockford, immediately following the Heart Art auction event at Rockford College.
