Giovanni’s Restaurant & Convention Center in Rockford
The YMCA of Rock River Valley is busy getting final details in order for its upcoming annual community fundraiser dinner. The First Annual “Celebrating Community” Fundraiser Dinner on March 20th at Giovanni’s Restaurant & Convention Center, is set to commence at 5:30 PM, with an impressive guest list of corporate sponsors, influential community leaders, respected YMCA board members, staff and special celebrity guest, Bill Rancic. The community fundraiser dinner is presented by BMO Harris Bank.
Bill Rancic is an American entrepreneur who was the first candidate hired by The Trump Organization at the conclusion of the first season of Donald Trump's reality television show, The Apprentice. Bill joins the YMCA to speak about his time on The Apprentice and how it has changed his life since the conclusion of the first season.
The YMCA held a spin-off of The Apprentice, named The Intern Challenge where the final student, Ashley Fiser, received $3,500 in college scholarships. Challenges that the students were given in The Intern Challenge centered on change and bettering the Rockford community. Ashley also receives the honor to introduce Bill Rancic to dinner guests.
The YMCA is awarding a new scholarship to a deserving local student during the fundraiser. Also being honored is an award for the area’s Distinguished Leader and Community Partner. Scholarships, leadership development and enhancing community bonds are an integrated part of the Y, where we are For Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
Proceeds from the dinner will support the Strong Kids Foundation, which helps education, provides scholarships, introduces innovative family programming, and improves critical social issues in Rockford.
The YMCA of Rock River Valley would like to thank their corporate sponsors; without corporate support, the community fundraiser dinner would not exist. The following companies have supported the YMCA this year and will be in attendance at the fundraiser: BMO Harris Bank, Rockford School District, SwedishAmerican Health System, Ringland-Johnson, Spring Creek Development, Ameriprise Financial, Rockford Health System, Williams-Manny and the Rockford Park District.
