ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Some of the most promising are surprisingly construction and building inspectors. Labor stats show employment in this field will grow by double digits in the next few years.

Installation, maintenance and repair jobs are also hot areas. While unemployment still hovers at 25 percent in the building and construction trades, the demand for energy-efficient buildings has helped soften the blow.

"One of the encouraging things, We've seen in the last few months is retail remodeling, so were starting to see private companies spend money so that's encouraging for us we're seeing a slight uptick, but I think its still tough out there in the construction industry as far as job growth."
