| Immediate Openings Comprehensive Community Solutions, Inc. and the Illinois YouthBuild Coalition are seeking five (5) qualified individuals to fill anticipated AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Qualifications for the VISTA positions include: U.S. Citizenship, U.S. National, or lawful permanent resident; a bachelors degree in education, social sciences, or business or 3 years experience working with at-risk youth/difficult-to-serve populations; strong organizational skills; excellent oral & written communication skills; computer skills; ability to work as part of a team; possession of a valid Illinois driver's license; and must have the availability to serve one full year. AmeriCorps VISTA members will be involved in a variety of activities including Fundraising, Corporate/Business Partnership Development, External Communications and Marketing, and Special Project Development. Special projects include two major initiatives involving CCS's application to become a charter school and the creation of a "Green Development and Training Center." Activities will include research and grant writing, corporate outreach, community networking, coordinating special projects, volunteer recruitment, and developing volunteer manuals and promotional materials. Other service will include working with our Community Leadership Committee, tracking program outcomes, graduate mentorship, public speaking on behalf of the program, and other duties, as assigned. The VISTA appointments are for 1 year and are anticipated to start in July, 2009. Compensation is a living allowance in the amount of $865/month plus benefits, which include insurance and possible child care. In addition VISTA Members receive a $4,725 Educational Award at the end of their 12 months of service. HOW TO APPLY: To fill out an application go to www.americorps.gov.
