ROCKFORD (WIFR)-- The storefronts are starting to look a little more festive on East State Street. A Rockford Alderman just relocated her store downtown and starting Monday, the owners of a new pizza joint will announce where they plan to start up on the strip.

Woodfire pizza will move into the downtown area over the next six months. The location won't be announced until tomorrow however we do know renovations to the building are estimated at 3.2 million dollars and include several lofts above the restaurant..

The owner, Joe D'Astice also owns a retail pasta shop, "Pasta Cucina" in Stewart Square that will officially open in November. Another big move comes from Alderman Karen Elyea, her store, Minglewood is leaving the 11th ward and partnering with retail store plush. Elyea says she's excited about relocating and still plans on living near her former location.

The owners of Woodfire Pizza say they were interested in starting a business downtown after selling their product at the city market. The owners use ingredients sold by surrounding vendors.
