Whitney Houston Dead at 48

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Whitney Houston, who reigned as pop music's queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, has died. She was 48.

Publicist Kristen Foster said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unclear.

At her peak in the 1980s and `90s, Houston the golden girl of the music industry and one of the world's best-selling artists.

Among her hits were "How Will I Know," "Saving All My Love for You" and "I Will Always Love You." She won multiple Grammys including album and record of the year.

Her success carried her beyond music to movies like "The Bodyguard."

But by the end of her career, drug use took its toll as her record sales plummeted and her voice became raspy and hoarse.

We can thank Bobbie Brown and all the other blood sucking leaches who led her down the path of destruction.

Yes their are other people in need.....instead of yelling at the people that do care, and do give....look in the mirror! Whitney Houston was a star yes....but she also was a humatarian....and gave to those who did not have....we all have our 'demons,' THAT is a part of life. You deal, and you go on.....give when you can...but don't put people down for mourning those that have made a difference.

Hard to feel sorry for someone that chooses drugs over the grand opportunities and fortune that lay in front of them.

She was a drug addict!!! She lost everything due to her addictions. So much out pouring for her is funny because you same heartbroken people don't feel the same way for Rockford's drug addicted residents. They had talents and careers and might haves and could haves but drugs took it all away from them too. I just don't understand the outpouring over Whitney and NO understanding for your own neighbors.

An angel with an angelic voice returned to the Heavens on Saturday. She will be missed. MY heart goes out to all those in her family. Rest now Whitney Houston, you are now, at last, at peace.

Who cares. She hasn't been relevant in years. Drugs and alcohol kills, she just the latest example.
