Kids in Roscoe got to learn about sledding of a different kind Monday afternoon...with the help of some furry friends.
Kristin Lynch and two members of the Anasazi Siberian Racing team demonstrated how sled dogs are trained and raced. More than 50 kids and their parents turned out to the North Suburban Library in Roscoe for the event that finished up with a meet and greet with the huskies. Lynch says she's been racing for 12 years, an experience that's unlike any other.
"Snowmobiles are fun and everything, you get to go fast, but dogs are silent. When you start going you actually get to enjoy everything you see. You've got all the wildlife and all sorts of stuff and the dogs have so much fun with it...it's just my favorite part about it all”, says Lynch
Lynch says she runs 2-3 races a year throughout the northern U.S. and owns 16 huskies that race competitively.
