ROCKFORD (WIFR) – From college to the workplace, this year’s Annual Chamber of Commerce dinner focused on an issue that could affect each of us at our job.
Keynote speaker, Haydn Shaw highlighted generational differences that could affect how local businesses efficiently and effectively run. According to Shaw, for the first time ever, Americans are in work environments where four different generations of workers are on staff and for companies to grow and employees to work well with each other, Shaw says understanding those differences has to be a priority.
"Sticking points are inevitable every generation sees things differently but problems between generations are avoidable if we'll just use some common sense and really listen to each other."
Shaw says the reason so many generations are working in the same workspace is because people are living longer than ever before.
