ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- It's one of the most common New Year's resolutions... get in shape! And Stateline fitness centers are reaping the benefits of our personal goals.
"You just get stiffer as you get older... and I don't want to be stiff, I want to have lots of energy, " says Laurie McWilliams. So Laurie McWilliams met with Anytime Fitness gym manager Cody Mercado to solve that problem. She says, "I'm not going to try to be a body builder. I just want to be flexible and healthy, and my husband too."
The new year brings about many wanting to check one resolution off their list right away. Cody Mercardo says, "It's a new year, new you. That's kind of the saying. I think they may have ate alot of food and overdid it during the holidays. They kind of want to overcompensate, get into some healthy habits, healthy things, and do something for themselves."
Anytime Fitness in Machesney Park says they have seen a dramatic change in business after the holidays. Ashley Mead says, "On Thursday and Friday alone, we easily got 35 people to commit to coming into the gym just to try it for 2 weeks."
But the biggest problem is not signing up... It's staying committed... And mercado has the solution. "You shouldn't look for any quick fixes, because then you're going to achieve your goals, and then get burnt out and get lazy and not stick with it anymore... it's more of a lifestyle change. You know they have work out partners. They're a lot more likely to be committed, a lot more likely to be motivated if you have someone to work out with," says Mercado.
McWilliams says, "We're going to keep going, and one or the other of us has to keep ourselves really motivated because I think it's for our general health."
Anytime Fitness in Machesney Park is offering a promotion where if you sign up between 9am and 9pm Tuesday, January 3rd, ... You can do so for a dollar!
