Local Teens Help Clean Up Rockford Schools

ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A handful of Rockford schools will receive a good cleaning this weekend thanks to the help of some local kids.

More than 100 teenagers and adult leaders from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are participating in a beautification project this weekend.

We caught up with them while they were cleaning the grounds of Auburn High School. Latter-Day Saints members say it feels great to give back to the community.

Alisa Aamodt, Volunteer, says "Most people think that teenager don't do anything good. but I think that this is a nice way to show that teenagers do have the capability to of doing things that improving their situation in live and I don't know it just feels nice to help out."

The two day youth conference continues Saturday with projects at Kennedy Middle School and the Roosevelt Community Education Center.
