Five Clerks Caught Selling Tobacco to a Minor During Loves Park Compliance Check

LOVES PARK (WIFR) -- During the last week, tobacco compliance checks were conducted by Loves Park police at 39 tobacco retailers throughout the city to see make sure retailers are complying with the minimum age laws that prohibit the sale of tobacco products to people under the age of 18.

During the compliance checks, 34 of the retailers complied with the laws and refused to sell tobacco products to minors. The clerks at five other businesses were charged with selling tobacco products to a minor. Clerks who sell tobacco products to a minor face a $750 fine.
Loves Park Police tell us the clerks caught selling tobacco products to a minor and the businesses they work for are:

47-year-old Sally Abudayyeh of Rochelle, The Dugout Smoke Shop, 6282 E. Riverside Blvd
26-year-old Semar Ali Abuhamoud of Rockford, Tobacco and Co, 1961 Harlem Rd.
30-year-old Douglas Lanora of Belvidere, Citgo Gas 1824 E. Riverside Blvd
56-year-old William Lotta of Loves Park, Rudy’s Cigars, 6420 E. Riverside Blvd
27-year-old John Valery of Beloit, Road Ranger 6010 E. Riverside Blvd
