ROSCOE (WIFR) -- Stateline fire departments came together this evening to salute those who lost their lives in the line of duty and past firemen who have passed away.
For the 18th year, fire departments across the stateline are meeting for the Firefighter's Memorial Service in Roscoe. Members of Illinois and Wisconsin departments marched from Roscoe Middle School to United Methodist Church in remembrance of those who have passed.
A memorial service was held afterwards dedicated to those who died in the last year.
Pastor Paul Meyers of United Methodist Church says, "It's a very significant time because it gives closure to the years that we've had with personnel and their lives and their families. And it not only gives us a chance to honor them for their past experiences and their past dedication, but it also gives us a chance to move forward."
After the memorial service ended, the fire departments lined up to salute the fallen firefighters and their families.
