CHERRY VALLEY (WIFR) -- Cherry Valley residents will see their phone bills go down, that's because the 6% Telecommunications Tax is now history.
Village leaders voted to eliminate the tax, because the 1% sales tax hike has been bringing in more money than expected. The sales tax increase took effect two years ago and makes the village nearly $10,000 dollars a month. Residents should notice the cheaper bill next month.
Village leaders say to double check your bill for July because some Cherry Valley residents have a Rockford mailing address, so the tax might not be automatically removed. If that happens they say to contract your phone provider.
