ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Police say late Friday night, a van carrying three people was speeding past the House of God Church on Brooke road, before it ended up crashing into the worship center's fence and a light pole in front of their parking lot.

The three occupants in the car attempted to flee the scene before police arrested them. It's the third time in two years the church's fence has been destroyed by a car.

"It's terrible. We talked with our alderman and he's supposed to get back to us and see what he can do. We want to put up a guard rail here...we think that will help”, says Rev. Charles Jackson.

Pastor Jackson says the costs for repairing the fence will come directly from the church, the damage is not covered under their insurance.

I'm sorry.... but shouldn't the people responsible for hitting the fence pay for it and not the church.
