MACHESNEY PARK (WIFR)-- One of the stateline's busiest shopping destinations will soon see road closures, adding to what many drivers already consider the 173 headache.
As traffic on 173 comes to a screeching halt, Taylor Street Pizza employees say construction delays are bringing in extra dough.
" We have seen an increase in sales, mainly from construction workers driving by and getting stuck in traffic and seeing ready pizza" says the restaurant’s Manager.
Traffic is expected to stay congested until late fall as crews transform the two-lane highway into four lanes. Some restaurant owners say while they appreciate the extra advertising however getting to them has become a challenge.
Onyx bar and Grill manager Jeff Morrison says sales have dipped 15 percent since the orange cones went up. He says customers are frustrated with the wait.
