A new Illinois law will require first time drunk driving offenders to install a breath test gadget in their cars and pass a breath test every time they start their engines. The breath alcohol ignition interlock devices would affect about 30 thousand first-time offenders in Illinois. The law goes into effect in 2009 making Illinois the fourth state mandating the devices.
