At this hour, nearly 200 Rockford residents are without power after a car side-swipes a utility pole on the city's northeast side. Earlier tonight, nearly 2,000 homes were in the dark.
Rockford police say it happened around 7:20 tonight at the intersection of Longwood and Crosby.
ComEd spokesman Paul Calligan tells 23 News that 2,000 were out of power, but by about 8:45 half of those were restored.
The affected area of the outage runs from Whitman and Rural on the North, Prospect on the East, Oak and Charles on the South and the Rock River on the West.
We're told ComEd crews will be working overnight to fix the problem.
