Drugs and other criminal activity taking place in rental properties have caused a major problem for local landlords. Today the Rockford apartment association held it's first seminar to help landlords recognize how to effectively manage their properties. This covered everything from asthetics to understanding their rights. Landlords often have to deal with tenants involved with criminal activity which many says is not only bad for the individual property. But the entire neighborhood.

"A clean, well-run property that's not having a lot of police calls, it's creating more value in the real estate it produces more tax revenue, it's also more valuable in terms of a rental unit, so you get better rents," said Paul Arena Rockford Apt. Assoc. President.

How to evict a tenant is the next session, Which is August 9th, Followed by a seminar on advertising quality housing on the web. That takes place August 23rd.
