ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- Rockford Police have now issued warrants for suspects in Rockford’s most recent murder, the shooting death of 32-year-old Troy Crecy.
Police have charged two men, 29-year-old Wyatt Hawkins and 37-year-old Ian Blake, with first degree murder for Crecy’s death. Detectives say both of these men have been convicted of murder before. Court documents show Hawkins was just 16 when he was charged with armed robbery and first degree murder and that Blake pleaded guilty to second degree murder back in 2001.
Police say on July 25th, Crecy was shot in the stomach after an argument broke out on the sidewalk outside an apartment on 8th Street. He died at the hospital. His family says the father of four was just going to get a haircut that night. They say they’ll remember him as a man who loved to make other people laugh. His family adds, they don't want to make any comment until Blake and Hawkins are arrested.
The family did say Crecy’s girlfriend is due next week with his s first son and they plan name the little boy after his father.
If you have information about these two suspects you're asked to call Rockford Police or Crimestoppers.
