Updated: 11/10/2008 - WASHINGTON (AP) -- The forecast for Illinois corn and soybean crops is up over last month while expectations for U.S. production for both have slipped below analysts' estimates. The Agriculture Department says it expects Illinois corn growers to harvest 2.09 billion bushels. That's abut 23 million more than last month's revised estimate. Corn yield per acre statewide is expected to come in at 179 bushels, two more than last month. Illinois soybean growers are expected to produce 416.3 million bushels of soybeans, or about 9 million more bushels than last month's forecast. Soybean yield per acre in Illinois is forecast to be 46 bushels, up one bushel per acre from last month. Nationwide, the Agriculture Department says corn and soybean production should be down slightly.
