YMCA Hopes to Renovate Facilities

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – The YMCA is hoping to raise $20 million dollars over the next 10 years, to renovate and rebuild its Stateline facilities.

“What better time than today to look at what we’ve done in the past, but also, a time when downtown is trying to revitalize itself and allow us to kinda take on some of those steps and revitalize a beautiful old building right here on the riverfront,” said Mike Brown, CEO of the YMCA.

Eventually, the “Y” wants to build a new building in Cherry Valley and add new cabins at camp Winnebago. First and foremost the YMCA wants to create a new youth center at the ID Pennock Family YMCA. The organization’s CEO says they can get started on that as soon as they have $4 million.

They’ve already raised $1 million. For more information or to donate, please contact Martha Rolf, with the YMCA of Rock River Valley at 815-489-330.
