Bay Valley Foods Workers Vote and Reject Contract Proposal

DIXON (WIFR) -- The strike continues at the Bay Valley Foods plant in Dixon after the union overwhelmingly rejects a revised final offer from the company.

Union workers voted Saturday morning on a deal that was hammered out during meetings on Friday with a federal mediator. Teamsters Local 722 President Steve Mongan says the item still at issue: the company will not allow workers to use a sick day with a doctor’s note. He adds, he has a meeting planned for Monday to decide with other union leaders whether to expand the strike to other Bay Valley Foods plants, which could include the Pecatonica facility. It’s now been more than two weeks since more than 100 workers walked off the job.
