ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- People who died while working are being honored across the country and here in the Stateline the focus was on the most recent victim.
Dozens gathered at the E.J. "Zeke" Giorgi Building in downtown Rockford for a memorial ceremony in honor of union workers who have lost their lives while on the clock. This March, Jacob Harper died on the job while unloading construction equipment. He is the only union worker to die on the job this year and was honored Monday night and while folks reflected on those lost. They hope society can learn from these tragedies.
More than 100 union members from the Rock River Valley have been honored by Rockford United Labor since 1946.
