LOVES PARK (WIFR) -- One of the Stateline's largest employers is about to get a whole lot bigger. 23 News has learned Woodward plans a major announcement Thursday that means hundreds and eventually even a thousand new jobs could be headed to Loves Park.
A news conference is set for Thursday morning with Woodward CEO Thomas Gendron coming in from Fort Collins, Colorado. We've learned he's going to announce that Woodward is set for a major expansion in Loves Park.
Senator Dave Syverson tells 23 News that the reason the Stateline beat out other states like Wisconsin and South Carolina who were bidding for the expansion may have simply been a case of loyalty.
"Woodward Governor is one of the premiere companies in the country, so the idea that they have decided to expand here. These are quality jobs with a company that is on the growth and that is really one of the best news that this community could have received in a long long time" Syverson said.
About 1,400 Stateliners are currently employed by Woodward. 23 News Anchor Mike Garrigan will be at Thursday's news conference and bring you the developments on 23 News at Noon, 5, 6 and the Update at 10.
