WOODSTOCK (AP) -- About 500 workers in Woodstock will lose their jobs when Quad/Graphics closes its printing operation later this year.
The closing stems from Quad/Graphics' recent $100 million acquisition of Brown Printing Co.
A spokesperson for the company said Wednesday that Quad/Graphics is integrating Brown's operations with its own. The moves meant the closing of the Woodstock operations and a facility in St. Cloud, Minnesota, where about 280 workers will lose their jobs.
Woodstock and St. Cloud workers were told of the company's plans early Wednesday. Quad/Graphics is preparing to offer relocation to those who are willing.
Mayor Brian Sager said considering the Quad/Graphics large presence in Woodstock, the city will feel the impact of the plant's closing.
There are positions for Woodstock workers at other plants.
