Woodstock Man Fired After Arrest for Road Salt Theft

WOODSTOCK (AP) -- A man who had worked for a northern Illinois community for 36 years has been fired after he allegedly took a ton of road salt and two snow plow skids valued at a total of $160.

Woodstock officials fired Dale Behm last week, just days after he was charged with felony theft of government property.

City manager Roscoe Stelford says an investigation revealed the salt was taken around the first of the year, however he didn't know exactly when the skids were stolen.

After his Feb. 28 arrest, Behm was released from custody the next day on a $1,000 recognizance bond.

A call for comment to a phone number listed to Dale Behm was not immediately returned.
