UPDATE: Woman Sentenced for Stealing from Girl Scouts of the USA

UPDATE: The Belvidere woman arrested on felony theft charges for stealing from the Girl Scouts of the United States of America was sentenced today.

Jennifer Schmarje, has pled guilty to Class 3 Felony theft. She was sentenced to 24 months probation, 100 hours of public service work, 90 days of Boone County jail stayed pending successful completion of probation, fines and costs of $1900 and to pay $4,700 in restitution to the Girl Scouts of America.

Schmarje was further ordered to stay away from the Girl Scouts of the USA.

BELVIDERE (WIFR) -- On Wednesday, Belvidere Police Detectives arrested a Belvidere woman on felony theft charges.

Jennifer Schmarje, 32, of Belvidere was charged with one count of theft between $500 and $10 thousand, which is a class three felony. Schmarje was released from the Boone County Jail after posting a $5000.00 (10%) bond.

The arrest of Schmarje concluded a two month long investigation by Belvidere Police.

The investigation began after the Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois filed a report.

Schmarje is accused of taking unauthorized control of over five thousand dollars.

A class three felony is punishable by two to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

    After the tax payers spending thousands of dollars on investigation and court cost the Judge will say don't steal anymore more cookie money again.

    lol 'after a two month long investigation we found out she stole 5000 dollars' TWO MONTHS? thats how your wasting our money for some petty theft? hahaha, what a joke. what about the string of home robberies or road ranger / bank robberies? do they too deserve 2 months of your time or did you just toss them under the table?

    The Wiltzie woman from Oregon stole much more money than that and got 24hrs in jail.
