UPDATE: Victim Identified in Fatal Rockton Car Accident

UPDATE: The victim has been identified in the single-vehicle crash in Rockton Sunday afternoon.

According to the Winnebago County Coroner's Office, 49-year-old Kimberly McCormick was pronounced dead at Rockford Memorial Hospital shortly after the accident.

The Roscoe woman hit a culvert and ran into a brick building around 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the 4800 block of Freeport Road.

The death remains under investigation by the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department. An autopsy is pending. Toxicology test results will be available in about two weeks.


WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WIFR) -- A woman dies in a car crash shortly after other drivers called police telling them she was swerving all over the road.

Winnebago County Sheriff's Deputies found that vehicle which had already crashed around 12:30pm on Sunday in the 4800 block of Freeport Road.

Investigators say the woman was headed east when she hit a culvert, sending her vehicle into a brick building.

The woman was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
