ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- A 25-year-old woman has been found guilty of beating a child in a Rockford park.
According to the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office, police responded to a battery call of a child in May 2011 at South Henrietta Park. Police say the victim said Gerri Simmons knocked her to the ground, then beat and kicked her. The child's younger sister also confirmed she saw Simmons kick her sister in the head.
Simmons has been found guilty of aggravated battery. She may spend two to five years in prison. Her sentencing has been set for November 4.
